The first goal of the match came after a controversial dismissal of Petteri Lindbaum. The Frölunda 2 + 2 player went to the higher club. It took just over three minutes before the HV71 could manage the powerplay.
Jonas Nattinen scored 1-0 after being assisted by Andre Peterson. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, the home team added after neglect in Frolunda. Andy Miele was the 2-0 goal in the match.
