Exactly two weeks have passed since Johann Garbenlov played his last match as captain of the national team Tre Kronor.
It was three seasons marked by sporting disappointments and father Kajil and mother Eva died due to national team encounters.
It’s okay to laugh, says “Garpen” in the P4 Extra.
Johann Garbenlove Kjell’s father was buried the week after the World Cup in Finland.
In preparation for the tournament, my father was admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering from septicemia.
Garbin had to leave the two training matches against Denmark in Halmstad and the Czech Hockey Games in Vienna.
“He almost came home”

Everyone has supported me so well through this. When we were in Halmstad the doctors called and said the next day was probably his last day to live, then I went home but he made his way through it. In Vienna I got a new call from my brother, when I was about to get home for my last breath, says “Garpen”.
Want to call out of habit
Over the years, he and his father had a very close and loving relationship.
– I talked to him every day all my life until he slept in IVA. I have picked up the phone several times in the past few days since he passed away to call him and find that he is no longer alive. Garbin says it was tough.
During his football career, Father Kjell was an additional coach, but during this period he did not participate as a captain.
– He was more worried that we would lose. Because it was hard for him to get down in the middle, he thought about it, Garbin says.
“Well, express sadness”
Mother Eva died three years ago of Alzheimer’s disease.
When she was alive, she helped him deal with grief.
I’ve especially learned from my mother over the years that it’s okay to laugh, it’s okay to express sadness and it’s okay to talk about it. So I try to talk about it with those close to my heart and with whom I have a good connection. We try to talk a lot about it in the family about what happened and how you feel, Garbin says.
Titi Schultz tells in P4 Extra that he sees himself as an emotional person.
– I’m easy to cry, I have. It depends on the forum. In hockey, there’s another part that comes up, but besides things and when they happen, I’m prone to tears, says Garbin.

In the World Cup quarter-final against Canada, Tre Kronor led 3-0 before the last period and 3-1 with less than two minutes left.
