John Michy has Leukemia – Paused From Work

John Michy, 22, was preparing for the NFL’s junior season.

Now he has been diagnosed with leukemia.

“I am receiving the best care and I expect to be back”writes in a statement.

Earlier this year, Jon Michy’s childhood dream came true.

The wide receiver from the Alabama Crimson Tide was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft (44th place) by the Houston Texans.

He might have been picked even sooner had it not been for the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in the last game of the college season, which required surgery.

Now the 22-year-old was in his rehab phase and about to prepare for the NFL junior season.

Then came the next blow – a hard blow.

affected by leukemia

In a statement on Texas social media channels, John Mitchie said he had been diagnosed with APL (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

It is the type of leukemia that is easier to treat, so the prognosis is relatively good.

“I am receiving the best medical care, and I hope and expect to be back later”Michi writes.

career stop

He chose, for obvious reasons, to put his career on hold.

“Because of this, I will probably not be playing any American football this season. I chose to focus more on my health and getting healthy. Thank you in advance for your support and well wishes. I am really looking forward to coming back stronger than ever. God bless you.”John Mitchey writes.

The NFL season begins the second weekend in September.
