Jonas Johansson gets a chance at Tampa Bay’s first NHL championship game

Jonas Johansson, 28, left Farestad without playing a single match.

Now he can make his NHL debut for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

This was confirmed by team coach John Cooper.

Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy underwent surgery and will miss the first two months of the NHL season.

It opened up for Jonas Johansson.

The 28-year-old Swede, with 35 NHL games under his belt, was ready to leave North America and was ready to play in Farestad. But after a month and without playing a game, he left to continue investing in the NHL.

According to several North American journalists, coach John Cooper has confirmed that Johansson will get the opportunity in the opener against Nashville on Tuesday night. This is after his brilliance during the pre-season, where he kept two clean sheets in a row.

– He seems calm. “I don’t feel nervous with him behind me and that’s a good sign,” defenseman Mikhail Sergateev told the Tampa Bay Times this weekend.

“I conceded a lot of goals.”

The second goalkeeper in Vasilevskiy’s absence is former Farestad and Frolunda goalkeeper Matt Tomkins.

– I’m very surprised that the two (Johansson and Tomkins) in the camp allowed so many goals, Sergateev says jokingly and continues:

– I wasn’t that excited but then they started playing matches and you could see their hard work and they played very well. It’s great for us and I hope they keep it going.

Johansson previously represented Buffalo, Florida and Colorado in the NHL.
