Jonathan Berggren hit – scored two goals for Detroit

New York. Jonathan Berggren is the latest in a string of Swedes to find success in Detroit.

Scored twice as the Red Wings won Saturday’s final game against Vancouver at home at Little Caesars Arena.

– It was a good evening, says the 22-year-old after the 5-2 win.

In Detroit in particular, many hockey stars from the Kingdom have made an unforgettable impression over the years and “we” continue to deliver the quality that Metropolis alone provides.

Last year, Lucas Raymond achieved an incredible feat, and now Jonathan Berggren is following in his footsteps.

The high-profile 22-year-old – in his most popular home country since his time in Skellefteå – after a year in the farm league joined the Red Wings this season and started as top scorer.

“he is smart”

On Saturday against Vancouver, he swept in two pucks thus reaching his rookie year’s ten complete hits total.

He’s a really smart hockey player with an eye for the game and good skating. We’ll get a lot out of him this year as well as in the future, he also pays tribute to team captain Dylan Larkin, who is also a two-goal scorer.

Coach Derek Lalonde agrees.

– He plays in all formations, and no matter where he plays, he contributes to strengthening the attack, as you say.

“Good evening”

Jonathan himself—or “Johnny Burger,” as he’s called by his teammates—also pleases himself.

For every goal I achieve, my confidence increases. He shyly says that was good evening.

Elias Peterson scored a goal – his 25th this season – for Vancouver.

Lucas Raymond missed the match with a foot injury, thus snapping a 132-game winning streak in the Wings shirt.

The Buffalo Sabers got off to a good start early in the second half after the All-Star break, taking a 2-0 halftime lead against Calgary.

But then they completely collapsed and eventually lost 7-2.

– We never found a rhythm, although we had good energy at the beginning. Then we just died, says trainer Don Granato.

For the Flames, it was a much more pleasant afternoon, they were desperate for points and goals after some heavy losses.

Mikael Backlund scored a goal and Elias Lindholm responded to two assists.

Rasmus Dalin also got an assist for the home team.

Bo Horvat scored another goal for the New York Islanders in Saturday’s final game against Montreal at the Bell Center and that was enough for a point but no more. The Canadians won with an overtime goal signed by Mike Matheson.

Swedish defender Sebastian Aho even played one of the visitors’ goals.
