In 2022, he tests positive for covid-19, and is removed from the team.

In 2023, the World Cup will finally begin – if he can stay injury-free next week.

Best Swedish Debutant: “Quite OK”
The former Skellefteå AIK striker provided two goals in a 3-0 win over Switzerland in Gothenburg and has a solid rookie season in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings behind him.
It was up and down a bit, but I stayed. I think I’ve progressed on my game and matured. A perfectly fine first season.
Still scored the most points (28) of all Swedish juniors. Maybe more than completely okay?
– Yes, you make high demands on yourself when you are in it. You might think it’s been more than just a good season this summer.
Did you change anything in your game last year?
– I attack a little more on goal. I put some proceeds and such. Maybe you were on a mini-game tour in the SHL.
You have one year left on your Detroit contract. How do you enjoy the city and the club?
– exactly. I have a year left and I’m having a good time. It is a hockey town and there are many Swedes throughout history.
Error recalled: “Just to poodle”
Since Jonatan Berggren was responsible for a blunder and headed to the wrong case (!) with his girlfriend when he was supposed to make his Grand Rapids AHL debut in the fall of 2021, we ask:
Are you starting to find your way?
– I still ride Uber. I just set the address and won’t have to drive. It’s usually better this way.
During one of the taxi rides, they overheard the driver telling the story of the Swedes who had lost their way.
– Well, we were sitting in the back seat when they said two stupid Swedes got it wrong… Then all we had to do was poodle and say it was us.
Can you sit quietly and agree?
– Yes, but maybe it was the girl who took it off and started tanning. It’s a funny story. It doesn’t happen often that I do such things. It’s such a fun thing you can offer, smiles Jonathan Berggren.
