Josef Engemann Suspended From Modo – The Seiko Players Union Rage

Modo chose to suspend Josef Ingman for an alleged filming.

Something the Players Union (Sico) criticizes:

Sico’s Clara Steinberg writes: – For a club/employer to act in parallel with the responsibility of the disciplinary committee and suspend a player is incorrect from an employment law perspective.

Waves were high after Friday’s match between Modo and Djurgården. Modopak Joseph Engmann was deemed to have consolidated two positions and was also reported twice to the Disciplinary Committee.

The verdict against Engmann has not yet been issued, but he risks a fine of 15,000 crowns.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Modo also acted in-house and chose to suspend Ingman for the team’s upcoming game. A decision that has been publicly praised and Engman also says he stands behind it:

The club sees reason to celebrate and I stand behind it 110 per cent. It’s never okay for me to do what I did,” Ingman told Sportbladet earlier today.

Modo says it violates labor law

But one of the parties that does not think Modu’s actions are right is the Players Union (SECO), which believes that the club’s actions contradict the labor law.

Clara Stenberg, Sico’s Allsvenskan hockey official, has a general comment on what applies in regards to workplace suspension.

Within Swedish ice hockey, there is a disciplinary committee that deals with penalty issues and possible penalties that may be relevant when ice hockey players commit a rule infringement. She said in a written comment that the club/employer acting in parallel with the responsibility of the disciplinary committee and suspending a player with reference to the same violation is wrong from an employment law perspective.

Stenberg continues:

– Sico expects the employer to provide the employee with such support as may be required in such a possible situation, as in any workplace.

Sportbladet is looking for Modo club manager Johan Weidebro.
