Jury disapproves of Ryan Giggs – trial could be rescheduled

Ryan Giggs, 48, has been on trial for four weeks.

The verdict was due to be announced today.

But the jury has disagreed – and now the whole trial may have to be retried.

Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs Accused of physical and psychological violence against his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville and of assaulting her sister Emma.

The trial lasted four weeks and today the idea was that the verdict would be issued.

This was not the case.

The jury does not agree

When the judge asked whether the jury – made up of eleven people (seven women and four men) – agreed, the answer was no.

To the follow-up question if they thought they could agree if they were given more time to deliberate, the answer was also no.

Now Britain’s attorney general, the Crown Prosecution Service, has seven days to decide whether a new trial should take place.

According to the BBC, this will happen next summer at the earliest.

Several accidents

Ryan Giggs pleaded guilty during the trial to “life infidelity,” but denied the allegations of violence.

Ex-girlfriend Kate accuses him of having sex with her during an argument in November 2020, the same night Giggs was arrested.

During the trial, Giggs said he “may have bumped into Kate and her sister”, but there was no intention of harm.

Another incident raised during the trial was an argument in Dubai that left Kate bruised.

Giggs interpretation? Hard sex.

We’ve had this kind of sex often, which can be hard but nothing weird, just hard sex. He said it was about both of us, especially when we haven’t seen each other for a long time, according to The Athletic.
