Basically, it’s a positive thing, if you know what I mean. But I would have felt differently if Kalmar FF felt internally that things were not going well. Malmö FF acted “by the book” right away. Kalmar FF knows this and it did too. It is perhaps disappointing that the journey we embarked upon did not turn out as planned. But I’m sober, because I know if things didn’t go as we planned, they would have canceled the trip, Rydstrom says.

Last week, information came from several sources that Rydstrom was close to the MFF. This led to strong reactions on social media from many Kalmar FF supporters, with Rydström repeatedly expressing his plan to stay at the club.

Last week, Rydström told Sportbladet that he had not entered into any negotiations with Malmö FF. The coach believes he has always been honest throughout the process and believes there is “ignorance” about how talks with Malmö FF go.
– You were only one hundred percent straightforward and honest. As Daniel (Anderson, the sporting director) was aware of, Malmö has respected our desire to finish the season, says Rydström.
– I understand the reactions. Then you can always discuss the strength of that, but somewhere it’s positive that there’s commitment. Things change. If you say one thing at a time, things happen in the meantime and so the message changes.
