He was previously skeptical of Scouting’s development in athletics.
But before the World Cup, Norwegian golden jumper Carsten Warholm developed his own secret “superdojos”.
“I’m proud and a bit ashamed,” the 26-year-old tells NRK.
Together with his coach Leif Olaf Alnes, the world record holder in the 400m hurdles he developed a new “super shoe” for the World Championships in Eugene. This is despite the fact that the duo were previously skeptical about developments in athletics.
At the risk of being hypocritical, we may have developed the best shoes on the market. “Hopefully they will be inaugurated at the World Cup, so I’m proud and a bit ashamed,” Warholm told NRK.
‘Moving borders even further’
Most of all, Alnes would like runners to run barefoot, but the development in athletics means they can’t just stand and watch. Therefore, they have now developed the new boot, which is still classified and will not be shown until Warholm is on the starting line at the World Cup.
It’s a principle I’ve always meant to apply to sport, that if someone can do it, everyone should be able to do it. Our response has been to move the boundaries even further, Warholm says.
He was injured at the beginning of the season
In his first appearance of the season in Rabat, Morocco, in early June, the 26-year-old injured his back thigh. It was later reported that he might miss the entire World Championship. Warholm hasn’t provided any information yet, but if he comes in first, he’s hoping for help from the boots.
Our boots come with a design that no one else has, which we will see at the World Cup. I hope to be able to run with them. Anyway, he’ll be able to help me level up even more, if I get the damage in order, he says.
