Kevin Lowe celebrated Växjö’s gold with Keegan Lowe

VÄXJÖ / Stockholm. Kevin Lowe celebrates Växjö’s gold with his son.

The NHL legend has arrived in Sweden to support Keegan Lowe.

“He’ll do some daddy duties, but I’ll celebrate it,” says Kevin Lowe.

Keegan Lowe’s decision in SC’s first final against Skellefteå was the start of a successful finals series for the Växjö Lakers.

When the gold was recovered Monday night, Keegan Lowe stood on the ice with his father, Kevin Lowe, 64.

– amazing. Honestly, this is one of my best hockey memories ever, says the National Hockey League legend.

Winning a national championship is every athlete’s dream. I saw the boys and they had a great year. They deserved this title.

Father was in Skelleftea

Keegan Lowe is happy to celebrate the gold medal with his father.

– I couldn’t imagine anything better. I’ll never ask, but I wish he’d come here. He was even in Skellefteå to play the first leg, so he’s a committed dad, says the 30-year-old.

The title is his first in his career.

– It’s my first time in professional hockey. The last one was young over ten years ago, so it’s been a long time.

“I’ll have a few beers.”

Even at home in Canada, there are happy faces after SM gold from Växjö.

– I hope the family celebrates at home. It’s still early today, Keegan Lowe said, but I think they’re watching.

Kevin Lowe knows how to celebrate gold on location in Sweden.

– Well, I’ll have a few beers. But Keegan has a 1-year-old who is 2.5 years old at home. So he will do some fatherly duties, but I will celebrate for him.

Kevin Lowe is much more qualified than Kevin. He can certainly be considered an NHL legend after his six Stanley Cup titles, five with the Edmonton Oilers and one with the New York Rangers.
