KG Stoppel ready as permanent sporting director in Djurgården

KG Stoppel has been praised as Djurgården’s Acting Sports Director.

Now he gets the role permanently for the upcoming seasons.

It feels incredibly inspiring and motivating, especially since we have something good going on, says the 53-year-old.

On December 9, Joachim Eriksson was dismissed from the position of sporting director at Djurgården.

KG Stoppel who has worked for 30 years at Djurgården took over the club rescue position at SHL.

He failed by losing 4-0 in matches against Timra in the playoffs.

However, KG Stoppel was praised for the commitment and results he showed in the role.

It has been and will continue to be very intense work where it is important to have energy and drive. We are in complete agreement on what we want to achieve and how we want to create clarity and identity in what Djurgården Hockey should be, says KG Stoppel.

After taking office, he took on the duties of: Emil Berglund, Frederic Forsberg, Dick Axelson, Cameron Schilling, Tim Soderlund, Alexander Salak, Eric Gilinas, Emilie Pourier and Joachim Fagervall.

For the following season, he finished with: Marcus Krueger, Danielle Prudden, John Norman, Kevin Carlson, Alexander Falk.

Djurgården fell out of the SHL during this year’s season.
