Krister Kristensson of Malmö FF passes away

Malmö legend FF Krister Kristensson has passed away after a long illness. Christenson was 80 years old.

“One of the greatest has left us. Rest in peace, Christer Christenson,” Malmö FF writes on Twitter.

Kristenson is a legend in Malmö. He debuted for the club in 1963 and celebrated with great success with several SM Gold and Cup titles. With 626 appearances in the MFF jersey, he is the one who has represented the club more than once.

Christensen was also noted for 38 international matches and was part of the Malmö FF version that got Bragdguldet in 1979.

During his later years, Christensen suffered from several illnesses. He had heart problems and had to have half of his right leg amputated after it became infected.

– There has been a lot of nonsense in recent years. The heart could have collapsed while I was off the bike, I found out from the doctor later. Then he told SydneySvenskan in an interview in July 2022, “There’s this thing with the leg.”

He was also diagnosed with prostate cancer.

– Then I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I’m on chemo now, second round. I’m not afraid of death, but I really hope that everything will work out.

Christenson was a board member of Malmö FF between 1995 and 2010.
