Helsingborg. AIK finished the spring season in the best way – and they should be more than happy when they now go on vacation as joint league captain.
It also looks like the team will improve.
For Helsingborg to have any chance of staying at the Allsvenskan, sporting director Andreas Granqvist must really conjure up something extra this summer.
AIK Celebrate the win over Helsingborg with over 1,000 fans away at Olympia. And they did so as a joint league leader. After switching from 1-0 to 2-1, AIK gained a really good position in the second half of the Allsvenskan, when the players now go on vacation and the Allsvenskan takes a month-long break. And Bartosz Gerzelak’s team is said to have been more than happy with the spring season, as they haven’t always played dazzling.
But the bottom line was little, stability has arrived and where AIK has found the right spot with its defensive game. It should not be underestimated.
In front of the bottom team Helsingborg, they lacked black and yellow Nabil Bahoui who missed the match due to injury. Instead, they started with Joe Mendes, one of the Real Deals of the Year at Allsvenskan, in a more offensive midfield role and Benjamin Mbonga Kempioca at the top with Jordan Larson. I started like this.
And when Helsingborg’s Taha Ali fell very easily in the penalty area, Kaspar Sjoberg took a penalty kick. Penalty kick succeeded by Anthony van den Hork. 1-0 to Helsingborg there and a great start for new coaches Matthias Lindstrom and Alvaro Santos. But the reins were short-lived.
AIK is full of players
Because in AIK it is full of a special kind of player that Helsingborg does not have. The people we often describe as gamers with character.
Players who can lift their teammates when the weight is up.

Helsingborg is where they do partly because they completely lack such players. Something must be done this summer.
Sporting director Andreas Granqvist has to make at least two or three really sharp new acquisitions for this team to rise from the bottom. Because as it is now, it will not continue. He is very cowardly, very anxious and very disorganized. Here, a good “Granen” has a difficult task ahead, since the economy, as you know, is not the best place and where there is a dismissed head coach on the payroll.

For AIK, it looks much brighter. The feeling is that the team will only improve after the first half. Admittedly, the team is likely to lose Jordan Larson, even though he has one match remaining under his contract. One against Degerfors when Allsvenskan restarts. If he plays, it won’t be entirely clear yet and if nothing unexpected happens, he will also leave AIK when his contract expires on July 1. But then John Guidetti came along, and as I wrote earlier, there were some merits to him not being there this spring.
The striker will do his first training on June 7 when the AIK squad gathers after the holiday. He then has more than a month to go before he is ready to play when his contract becomes effective on July 15. I think it will be fully marked before the second half of Allsvenskan.
Especially when AIK is in a good position to reclaim the gold in the Sweden Championships.
