Leo Vaizanen has parted ways with the MLS Austin Soccer Club

Everything points to Leo Väisänen being sold from Elfsborg this winter – and several foreign clubs are interested in the centre-back.

According to Sportbladet’s information, MLS club Austin FC is now making a new bid to sign the Finland national team player.

– Elfsborg club manager Stefan Andersson says there is interest in Assad.

Finland’s national team player Leo Vaisaanen has been the man of gossip for a long time. He was close to being sold to FC Zurich this summer, but there the transfer broke out in the final days of the window, and so the 25-year-old stayed at Elfsborg for the entire season.

Previously, Sportbladet was able to reveal that MLS’ Austin FC wanted to sign the player and were interested in both of the two most recent transfer windows. According to Sportbladet’s information, the club is now making another attempt to sign Väisänen and the first contact has been made between the two parties. There are also a couple of other foreign clubs showing interest and Elfsborg expect to sell the Finn this winter.

Interested in Leo?

Elfsborg director Stefan Andreasson does not want to confirm anything about the clubs, but admits there is interest in the player.

– There, and it’s been a long time now. He was close to the club this summer, but nothing happened after that. If something good turns out for Elfsborg and Väisänen, we’re open to finding a solution. We are always with all the players.
