Linus Öberg is now being offered by his new club, Frölunda.
On January 16, Sportbladet was able to reveal that he is leaving Örebro for SHL rivals.
– Frölunda is an exciting club that wants to win, and the chance of SM gold is there, says the 22-year-old right-forward.
Linus Öberg from Vänersborg previously opted out of Frölunda in Örebro.
After playing in Trollhättan, he went to juniors’ activities in Örebro instead of nearby Frölunda.
– I was in contact with both clubs, but I felt good in Örebro and decided to go for it, says Linus Oberg.
Qualifying success
There were four seasons with the first team in Örebro as an energetic, points-scoring striker.
He made a huge impression at the SM Finals as part of the Millenium Series alongside Leo Carlsson and Milton Oscarson.
Now Linus Öberg has turned down a big offer from Örebro to go to league rivals Frölunda.
– I enjoyed my time in Örebro, but I wanted to try something new, says Linus Oberg.
“I raised it before”
The contract is being written with Frölunda for the next three seasons.
The only concern for the Gothenburg club is that Linus Öberg, who was drafted by the San Jose Sharks, can now sign a contract and is interesting to other NHL clubs.
Linus Öberg is a player we’ve been interested in for a long time. We’ve pulled it off before and now we got it and we’re so glad we did. He’s from the area, he’s a good age, a fierce personality, and he has a nose for target. Sporting director Fredrik Sjöström says he will fit in with us and we expect him to take more steps.
King Louie can continue
Previously, Frölunda finished with defender Henrik Tömmernes from Geneve-Servette.
The club thanked Joel Lundqvist, Andreas Borgmann, Philipp Johansson, Jakob Nilsson, Jan Mursack, Anders Gronlund, Liam Dauer Nilsson and Johan Sundström.
However, there is no news yet about Louis Ericsson, Petteri Lindbom and Anthony Greco.
