Linus Videl of Södertälje will miss the rest of the season after making a tackle on Modu.
Surprise yourself today with a luxurious gift from SSK supporters.
– I find it hard to find the words. Well done, says Linus Wedel.
Södertälje star Linus Videl, 37, was carried off on a stretcher after a challenge in the home encounter against Modu on February 17.
Last week it was announced that the season was over for the second-placed league side, and on Friday evening, Videl saw his teammates lose 3-4 after a penalty shootout at home against Bjorkloven.
Half an hour before the game, he was called to a restaurant.
– I thought I might meet a sponsor or something. Instead, it was a very nice surprise, says Linus Videll on the phone on the way home from Scaniarink.
Fidel’s gift from a fan
He received a gift from SSK fans, including a luxury hotel stay, a bottle of red wine for SEK 1,500 and a gift card to Leo Lekland for the kids, his supporter Andreas Häggström wrote in Twitter.
– I haven’t really had time to check everything yet! But yeah, there was a booth at Trosa where Joe Labero had some entertainment. Dinner and gift cards for the kids in the meantime so they can have a good time. So… it was crazy to have it. It has been well done by them. I was so touched, I find it hard to describe what to say. We have great supporters, says Linus Videl who is remarkably touching and tells us he was on the verge of tears.
Videl had previously told SVT that he was “away from life-threatening injuries” after the blast, but said he was fine under the circumstances.
– I’m feeling a little sore right now as we speak, but I’m feeling pretty good. Although it is very empty. I was in a bit of a vacuum after announcing that I couldn’t play anymore. So it was a nice surprise from them. Now I think of something else and feel the love of the supporters. Then you are excited for next year instead.
“Not many want to meet us.”
Losing a penalty against Björklöven on the last matchday meant that Södertälje dropped from fourth to fifth in the table. Now the quarter-final matches await, but the opposition will not be clear until after the round of 16.
Sad we didn’t meet. If we had three points, we would have finished third. But you just have to love the situation. There are probably not many teams who would like to meet us in the playoffs. We are heavy and stable. We’re crunchers and it’s not easy to get rid of it even though we’re clearly not the favourites, says Videll, and concludes:
– We have a chance to go up. We have to believe in it and take it one round at a time.
