His old friend Sergio “Con” Aguero took to the pitch and celebrated by beating big drums and carrying Messi on his shoulders.
Aguero ran and carried Messi, who was holding the trophy, while the rest of the team and a handful of other people crowded around the duo.

During the World Cup final and the rest of the tournament, Argentina’s players played with two stars above their crest, but on Messi’s jersey now another star shone.
Messi and his teammates have had time to acquire new jerseys as all three of Argentina’s World Cup gold medals – 1978, 1986 and 2022 – are now coded.
