The first active player in Germany to come out

But now the Leipzig player has chosen to speak frankly.
The 28-year-old appears as gay.
When Lucas Krzykala was in his twenties, he told his brother Julian and his mother. It was then that he realized that he loves men.
– I poured myself a liqueur or two to find the courage to talk about it, says the German handball player according to MDR.
According to the site, he continued to hide the matter from his fellow handball teammates. When they were in the bar together, he would rather talk to women than men so that no one would suspect anything.
“Very happy with that”
But in the end he had the courage and told the whole club including the sponsors. Now he chooses to speak frankly about it on Instagram and in the German media.
– I’ve been thinking about it for a year. Why don’t you just tell me I’m gay?, he tells Welt according to Sport1.
Krzikalla has long been posting photos on Instagram with her boyfriend Chris. But today he did it with a heart.
– I’m gay, I have a friend whom I love and I’m very happy about that, he says.
Krzikalla is the only active player on the team in the Bundesliga to come out as gay, MDR reports.
Volleyball spearhead Facundo Imhoff came out as gay two years before moving to Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, but left to play in Switzerland in 2021.
