Ludwig Blomstrand receives a long suspension for a facial cut.

The Södertälje star has been suspended for the next five matches in Hockeyallsvenskan.

– I had no idea that this happened during the match, says the 30-year-old striker in his statement.

In the first period, Ludwig Blomstrande dealt a harsh blow to Josef Engemann in Östersund.

The incident was left without action on the ice by referees Stefan Johansson and Peter Bakken.

According to the report from the operating room, Josef Engemann gently pushed Ludwig Blomstrand away with his hands, and Ludwig Blomstrand then responded with a “direct blow to the face/neck.”

“Ludwig Blomstrand committed a blow that could not be considered in any other way than an attempt to injure an opponent,” the disciplinary committee wrote in its decision.

“Negligence and disrespect”

The main factors cited were “a hard hit with the club that struck the opponent’s face”, “intentional”, “negligence and disrespect”, and “extremely high risk of injury”.

Ludwig Blomstrand responded in the statement that it was not supposed to be intentional.

-I go out into the corner and I have a hill behind me. I dropped the disc and put the club high and then got a push from the hill, causing my body to spin and the club to hit my chest. It’s unfortunate, and certainly not intentional, says Ludwig Blomstrand.

The suspension means that Ludwig Blomstrand will miss, among other things, the home match against Brennas on November 22 and the home match against Djurgården on November 24.
