SKELLEFTEÅ. The rivalry and summit meeting showed intensity on the ice and in the stands.
Luleå won the match against Skellefteå 1–0 after a decision with five minutes left in the match.
Mario Kempe pushed the ball over from close range and celebrated against the angry fans.
The goal was reviewed on video by the referees, but they concluded that Linus Lindstrom pushed Mario Kempe into goalkeeper Gustav Lindvall.
The match was tense and full of speed and fury, and both teams had to make a great effort to get chances.
Mateus Ward saved a penalty from Dylan Sikora in the third period after Anton Häkkinen was pulled down by Marcus Hardegaard.
-The conflict and emotions were immediate. It was amazing, I love it, says Robert Olsson, Skellefteå’s head coach.
– It was a good hockey match. There was a lot of fighting and positional warfare. It was good play offensively and defensively from both teams, says Luleå coach Thomas “Bolan” Berglund.
Fight for victory
Pontus Andreasson-Juhani Tyrväinen-Linus Omark from the Luleå series continued to try skapa avätt.
Juhani Tyrväinen and Pontus Andreasson both had free kicks in the first half without getting the puck.
Skellefteå dominated the second period thanks to three strong plays.
Luleå is still a fan of the box play and closed with the sacrifice play.
Despite the behavior of the Luleå fans when one of their sections was evacuated and the match was called off, Linus Omark had nothing but good things to say about the venue.
– It was a little extra. “We have amazing fans,” Linus Omark says.
The next match between the two teams will be held in Luleå on Thursday, November 30.
