Malmö FF is sad.

One of the club’s greats has died.

Ingmar Erlandson passed away after a short illness – at the age of 64.

Gilmåkra’s Ingemar Erlandsson came to Malmö and the MFF in 1976 after Bob Houghton spotted him in a junior international.

The Englishman turned the striker into the left-back, and there Erlandsson became a national team player and captain for the Blagult team, playing, among other things, the 1978 World Cup. At the MFF, Erlandsson played 473 Allsvenskan games in 1976-87 and was part of both peaks in the late 1970s under Hutton and the mid-1980s under Roy Hodgson. He was the captain of the team, a two-time gold medalist, and was of course in the European Cup final against Nottingham Forest in 1979 and won the Gold Cup.

Part of MFF for 46 years

Erlandson has played a total of 69 caps and there are those in the MFF circuit who believe that the most MFF players represent the club in all of them (players like Patrick Anderson, Jonas Terne, Daniel Anderson and Boss. Larson has made more but many of them while playing in foreign clubs) .

Immediately after his playing career, Erlandson became part of the MFF Board of Directors and for 46 years had a role/position in the MFF, most recently as Chairman of the Selection Committee.

The MFF wrote on their website that he has now passed away after a short illness.
