The energy crisis is being discussed across Europe, including ahead of the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the classic Monza.

Even in Great Britain, energy prices are rising and the Formula 1 teams that have their factories in the country are hitting hard.

– We are talking about millions of increased costs, and energy costs alone have increased by between two and six million barrels, but also the costs of charter flights and air freight have risen dramatically, as Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff explains.

Therefore, the stable took matters into his own hands. It is now investing in its own solar power plant.

– I am trying to see us as a high-tech industry and with positive change we will open up the solar panels that provide us with energy. Today we only use green electricity, but we also have to do what we can to be CO2 neutral.

The facility will be constructed near the factory and supplied with power. It is planned to be used in 2024.

– Wolf says the goal in the short to medium term is to have our own solar panels paying for within 20 years.

Tire selection for the Italian GP in F1

Monza is 100 years old, those of you who follow the blog and podcast regularly know that this is one of my all-time favorite tracks.
In this year’s sub-competition, Pirelli chose the C2, C3 and C4 tires.

– Monza is known for its high speeds and fast cornering and it is important to have a car in perfect balance, says Mario Isola of Pirelli.
– This year’s rear tires shouldn’t get too hot on this track as the cars drive low and skid often. With no sprint race at Monza this year, the teams will have slightly less information about the race than last year. This means that there will also be a different mindset when it comes to strategy.

This summer there was a lot of talk about Porsche and Red Bull, but no deal was offered. It is said that the deal was done and that Porsche was willing to pay half a million euros, but the deal does not seem to contain much of a no-nonsense.

Dino Beganovic cannot follow Ferrari’s home race at Monza this weekend. The European Formula Regional Championship takes place in the eighth round of the year in Austria and leads the championship
We had a good weekend in Spa before the break and of course the goal is to continue like this at Red Bull Ring. It’s a track I know well now – I’ve raced there before in both Formula 4 and Formula Regional – and I like it very much, he says.
He runs one race on Saturday and another on Sunday.
Dino Bejanovic belongs to the Ferrari Drivers’ Academy, he is one of nine talents who got a chance there and he is the first and only Swede in the FDA. We interviewed him at Plattan i Mattan earlier this year. listen please.
