MFF in post-hit Kalmar meet: ‘Good discussion’

Jorgson explains how MFF will reverse the heavy trend

Malmo. Huge loss to Kalmar, fifth in Olsvenskan and a golden train that now appears to be gone.

Then the multinational force team met for a meeting.

We have found out what everyone is feeling, says Isaac Kis Tellen.

The next day he got the surprise loss against Kalmar in overtime Malmo FFPlayers and leaders – suspended on Monday.

When the team met again on Tuesday, they came together to meet.

– It was a good discussion to gather all the emotions, says coach Andreas Jorgson.

– We had a good talk where everyone should tell us how they felt. We’ve found out what everyone is feeling, says Isaac Kis Tellen.

Are there many who express their thoughts at such a meeting? Or just a little?

There are many who say what they think. Then we try to include the discussion so that it stays alive all the time. It was good that we got it because we live in it now. It shouldn’t be. The attacker says everyone should check themselves.

“There is no snitch”

The evening headline-maker might call it a crisis meeting.

Well, it’s clearly not good enough where we are now. You usually have meetings like this when things aren’t going well, says Kiese Thelin.

Georgeson, of course, does not want to call that a crisis meeting.

– No, it was an opportunity to collect what the players felt after thinking for a day.

According to both Georgeson and Casey Tillen, there is consensus on what doesn’t work.

At the same time, it’s just talk. It’s all about what we get out and do together as a team in training and matches, says Jorgson.

You have a great analytics team looking at everything – can you tell me anything they’ve come up with that’s stopping you from getting results?

It’s explosive to talk about stats after a loss. But if we look at the whole of 2022, we’re converting far fewer opportunities we create into goals than we did before. There is a “fairness table” where the target’s chances are evaluated and where they would be if you shifted them as fast as you should consistently. Then we scored a lot less than we should and conceded as many goals as possible. But it’s just a statistical model and we don’t use it as a blanket to comfort ourselves when the margins clash with us. We don’t blame her.

– But the statistics speak for the way we work. With the big frameworks and principles of the way we want to play, we’re on the right track. But matches are determined by many other things.

“Don’t be afraid to raise your voice”

Why don’t you take your chances? Is it in the skull?

– Some things depend on the margins. But if you float, you hit it right there. If you haven’t done so in a while, take some extra time or an extra touch. If you are physically or mentally tired, maybe take an extra half second and then it gets worse. We’re looking at all the things that we can make the margins bigger.

What will you do next?

– Create more scoring chances, be better in dueling situations, and every time we need to make a recovery to stop a counterattack, we must do it as far as possible by … these are simple things that you can influence more effort and focus each day. We have to be careful when we have additional training and work the details so that they rely more on intuition. At the same time, we must not lose faith in the grand process. We think the different stages of the game work. We shouldn’t be afraid to actually raise the tone or make it too intense and ridiculous in training to properly test each other, says Georgeson.
