In Monaco, Mick Schumacher crashes. It was a real buzz on the fastest part of the track and the car went two parts. This is the second time this season that Michael Schumacher’s son has had a bad accident with few consequences. Either for him or his team.

– We are not happy that he is in another difficult accident. “We’ll have to see how we deal with it going forward,” stable manager Gunther Steiner says in a statement released by the team.
This type of collision is an additional big problem now that F1 teams are living under the budget cap. This year it’s worth $140 million and a fully rammed car costs many millions. Ahead of the race weekend in Monaco, Steiner gave interviews in which he indicated that he doesn’t think drivers think too much about budget.

Primarily, they think about their career, but when you constantly cause accidents, you won’t have a job.

Criticism of Mick Schumacher grows

Criticism of Mick Schumacher is growing after this weekend’s crash. He hasn’t scored any points yet in Formula 1, his teammate Kevin Magnussen has sent him off and he made two mistakes which means the pressure on him is increasing.

Monaco was a weekend to forget for Mick. The collision was his fault. Other drivers passed the same spot without any problems, but he didn’t, says Uncle Ralf Schumacher, a Sky TV expert in his post-race column.

– He got out where he was wet, which is a mistake that shouldn’t happen. Then you will be severely punished on the spot. This was also what we got.

Ralf Schumacher also points out that the accident compensates for Haas. The American team has a limited budget and in the end there is a risk that this type of accident could affect the financial prospects for developing the car.
It’s about money that would have been used to develop the car instead needed to fix it.

– Ralf Schumacher points out that not only is he ruining the entire race for himself and his team, but a jammed car has financial consequences for the team.

Millions of damage

Former driver Ralf Schumacher is not the only expert to criticize Mick Schumacher.

Christian Danner supports him.
– Somehow he has to think about this. His speed is very good and he keeps pace, but he can’t keep crashing that way, the former Formula 1 driver tells motorsport-total.com.
It’s about several million dollars in damage and a team like this could use the money for better things than repairs.

In two weeks, the Grand Prix in Baku awaits. It is also an urban railroad, but it is a very fast urban railroad with narrow walls and no detours.
Crashing is absolutely not allowed there.

F1 fast news

That’s with one exception, McLaren. Yesterday, stable chief executive Zac Brown indicated that the stable’s three-year contract with Daniel Ricciardo could be terminated.

– There are things that bind us together and other things that do not bind us, quoted by www.0123go.com

In other words, it appears to be a performance-based clause that, if Ricciardo does not implement, can be fired.

– I talked to Daniel and we didn’t get the results we were hoping for, says CEO

This was an eventful weekend which also offers a well-stocked podcast. We’re talking about the Monaco GP in Plattan i Mattan and we’re also talking about the Indy 500 where we’ve already got Marcus Ericsson. On the podcast, you’ll hear his thoughts and his happiness after winning the Indy 500.
Yesterday, a long and very honest interview with Marcus was also posted here on the blog. You can find it here.
When we’re still in IndyCar, it’s time for Linus Lundqvist to jump in the car again. He competes in the Indy Lights, the support class under IndyCar, and leads the championship after 4 of 14 races.

Detroit became my favorite course last year, and it’s so rewarding to have a good cuddle there, says Linus Lundqvist.
– It’s physically and mentally tough with all the high tolerances and dangers between the walls, but it was this challenge that attracted me.

This weekend there are two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, and as usual you can follow Linus on his website.

IndyCar will also compete with Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist in Detroit this weekend. This was where Felix Rosenqvist crashed hard last year and Marcus won one of the races.

When we’re at IndyCar, we can tell you that Andretti Motorsport until 2023 will end the collaboration with Alexander Rossi after seven years. He will be replaced by Kyle Kirkwood who will make his IndyCar debut for AJ Foyt Enterprises this year. Rossi is now rumored to be a good fit for McLaren as Pat Oward has extended his contract.

If Rossi comes to McLaren, will he then have to drive a third car for the team or will Felix Rosenqvist have to look for another steering?
