Mikael Wikstrand is angry, depressed and sad.
Everything didn’t go well during the injury and back two months later.
– 90 seconds or so was enough on the ice last week to know something was grinding on the knee, he tells Färjestad’s website.
The plan was for Mikael Wikstrand, 29, to return around the new year. But that won’t be the case, the downhill club Färjestad announces on their website.
The first operation, 8 June, was not entirely successful and a new operation was performed on 17 October.
Since he was due back soon, Wikstrand was on the ice for testing last week.
– As soon as I put my weight on my legs, they stab and hurt. 90 seconds or so on the ice last week was enough to know something was wrong with the knee, the club’s website told.
“It wasn’t a good day”
Wikstrand Connect:
It wasn’t a good day and the tears didn’t seem to stop when I came down because I knew then and there that the comeback was far away. Really heavy.
Färjestad wrote that Wikstrand should have rested longer than he was told after the operation in October. According to the club’s chief medical officer, Matthias Hill, Färjestad had received some incorrect information about the procedure and the 29-year-old would need to rehabilitate for 3-4 months, he told the club’s website.
– I’m sad, angry and heartbroken by the whole situation, says Wikstrand.
No new date has been set for when Mikael Wikstrand can return to Färjestad’s squad for the match at this time.
