Mikael Ymir is already ready to play in the 2022 Stockholm Open.
Then the 24-year-old comes up with a new trick.
“Everyone knows that a Swedish competition without me is like asking for a salad on a dunk,” he wrote in a post on his Instagram story.
Michael Ymir He is Sweden’s best player on the ATP Tour, and is ranked 99th in the world.
The 24-year-old has a good season behind him, including his semi-final match at the Washington City Open against a strong opposition.
This summer, the Stockholm Open announced that Ymir is ready for the tournament, which begins this weekend, for the first time in three years. There he joined top players such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Nouri, Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiafoe and last year’s title winner Tommy Ball.
“Like a salad on a dunk”
Ymir, who has been known for poking his chin and saying what he thinks, spoke on his Instagram story Thursday night about the decision to play on Swedish soil in the coming days.
“Everyone knows that Swedish competition without me is like asking for a salad on a dunkin (editor’s note: slang for McDonald’s).”
That story was followed by another where he mentioned the two things he most “worried” about in life at the moment:
“1. I will never be able to sit in the stands at the Stockholm Open and see my feet.
2. I never had a girlfriend before I became the second richest black man in Sweden.”
Compare himself to Zlatan
According to the official ATP website, the Swedish tennis star has together played just over 24 million kronor in prize money over the years.
Earlier this summer, he refused to play the Swedish Open in Bastad.
– The reason for not playing at Båstad is the same reason for not playing Zlatan at Allsvenskan, he said at the time.
To the semi-finals
During Friday, Ymir was ready for the ATP semi-finals in Florence.
He defeated Spain’s Roberto Karpeles, ranked 80th
Pena is in quarters 6-4, 6-2.
