At the end of last season, Milton Oscarson was covered in bacteria.
The 19-year-old Orebro striker was hospitalized for several weeks.
– It was a difficult summer, I had to do everything possible to come back, he says.
Milton Oscarsson fell ill during the J20 Finals in Nykoping in April.
– I have bacteria in my body, I don’t really know what they were. I got hit and I thought I had a hamstring or something. The pain around the hip area didn’t go away, Milton Oscarson says, so we went in and checked it out.
He was bedridden in the hospital for several weeks.
“I fought everything I could”
It became a stressful situation when he fell behind in the preseason, the entire summer was about rehab and when the other guys went on the ice he had to work out in the gym.
It was mostly rest and rehabilitation to get back on my feet. It was a difficult period and you are obviously anxious when you are lying in the hospital. Then it was a matter of catching up in terms of stamina and building muscle mass. The focus is on being able to return as quickly as possible. I worked hard for this. I fought everything I could. “I’m so glad I was able to come back,” says Milton Oscarson.
One of the three islanders
Gradually through the SHL season, he stepped up his playing style and in the last games before the JVM, made a huge impression on the ice.
– You gain more confidence and more playing time, then your self-confidence will increase. Since then, the timing and speed have improved more and more. Milton Oscarson says it was a great feeling that things had gone so well.
For the first time, Örebro has three players in the JVM’s Junior Crowns.
In addition to casting Milton Oscarson, Leo Carlsson, Elias Pettersson, Adam Hofbauer and Simon Forsmark were also considered.
Being able to do this trip with two teammates is very good. We’ve been playing together for three years and hang out every single day. Milton Oscarson says: We become really close when we hang out in the hall and beyond.
stands out for its size
He is a skilful and wise center who is 198 cm tall and weighs 98 kg.
The size makes it easy to draw parallels with the 202 cm tall and 112 kg Elmer Soderblom of the Detroit Red Wings.
– We’re both big and have access, but I’m playing my game. I entered puberty very late and grew rapidly by 15 cm. With reach, Milton Oskarson says, “I can reach larger areas when you don’t have a disc, and when you do have a disc, I can protect it in a good way.”

His sense of purpose and personality meant he was finally picked in Junior Crowns for the JVM.
I dreamed about this since I was little. I’ve always watched the tournament and it’s an honor to be a part of it now. I didn’t know anything beforehand and when I was chosen I was so happy. To be able to play for Sweden and show off in these contexts is great. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, says Milton Oscarson.
He has not been selected by any NHL club in recent drafts.
The parent club is Kumla, just like former Örebro player Emil Kaberg and current Örebro players Oliver Eckelend and Simon Forsmark.
