Mora IK’s Niklas Heneiro suspended after colliding with referee in Hockey Allsvenskan

Niklas Heneiro of Mora IK collided with the referee during an allsvenskan hockey match.

Now the 30-year-old has been banned for three matches and fined just over SEK 7,000.

– That’s not how we market Allsvenskan hockey, says the club’s sporting director Andreas Hägglund.

In the match against Karlskoga, Moras hit Niklas Heineiro in a scuffle with referee Peter Norman who fell backwards and hit his head on the ice.

No action was taken on the ice, but then the situation was reported to the Disciplinary Committee.

On Tuesday, the referee reached a three-match suspension and a fine of SEK 7,250.

In doing so, Niklas Heinero showed, however, a clear indifference to the occurrence of physical contact with the magistrate that had become a consequence of his actions. The sanctity of the referee is a prerequisite in all sports. The board writes in its decision.

– I don’t know how to express myself. There is no intention to run for this judge. It is an unfortunate accident that it was not taken into account. Three very difficult matches, says Mura’s sporting director Andreas Haglund.

– I don’t think this is a very good explanation. But you know how it is, sometimes you don’t dare say what you think, but just follow your example.

Receive a notice hours before the match

The incident happened last Saturday and only on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before Moura faced Djurgården in Hovet, did the verdict come.

– He’s coming to Stockholm, after all. He was suspended during the investigation, but he moved on because you hoped for the best. Even sitting in the stands. I think it takes too long and it’s a very heavy break for us,” Hägglund says.

The Swedish Sports Confederation will appeal

The club will now appeal the ruling to the National Sports Federation.

– Niklas also wanted to do it. We have a very sad and worried player who feels he is being treated unfairly. Those who have met Nicklas Heinerö know that he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. There is no evil in it. It was not a pleasant conversation with him.

Do you think there is a problem with the way comments are handled?

– I think in many cases they definitely do their best. Then there is the issue of whether there should be left and right notifications. There will be no penalty on the ice and thereafter there will be a suspension when the video is reported. You just feel: do we have to report everything? Then we hire a guy to sit down and cut the video. I don’t think this is how we market Allsvenskan hockey.
