“Yesterday I received the hardest news I have ever received, when my mother told me that my grandfather had passed away,” Williams writes on Twitter and continues:

When the Welsh national anthem played before the match, Williams began to break down. The defender also appeared to be in tears after the final whistle.
Williams explains on Instagram:
