New measures in the SHL and Hockeyallsvenskan after the terrorist threat

Prepare to be searched and leave your bag at home when you go to the match.

Swedish Hockey operates according to the increased terrorist threat level.

– We’re vigilant and put our fans at the center, says Abe Torslev, director of security for the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation.

Due to the increasing level of terrorist threat with the security police in Sweden, a number of measures to enhance security are now being introduced in relation to events organized in the SHL, SDHL, Allsvenskan Hockey, Etta Hockey and the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation.

This includes, among other things, the visitation of all spectators, as well as the prohibition of the entry of larger bags.

“I don’t agree all the time”

Abe Torslev, director of security for the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation, believes it was clear that security had been heightened.

– We are following the authorities closely. Because of the interest we have in society, we tune in to it all the time. It has been declared that we should be able to live as usual, but we have to be vigilant and think a little. Our role is to implement a number of measures to create safety for our public and our employees, as Törsleff says and points out:

– We don’t see any threats to hockey or sports, but this is a measure so that our visitors can feel that we take it seriously and follow developments in the community closely.

Leave the backpack at home

You are prohibited from entering “larger bags”. What is the size of the bags?

We must be flexible and work with a high level of service. Bags, backpacks or gym bags can be left at home. However, it does come with a smaller handbag. We’ll look into it, of course, but after that you’re welcome to enter. It is also possible that one of the visitors had a waist bag with an insulin syringe or things like that. Of course, you are welcome to enter, as long as we look into it.

But should you leave a regular backpack at home?

– Yes exactly. It is also a way to send safety signals. We don’t like to take bags of larger models to the facility.

“Be on time”

In addition, Abe Torreslev urges visitors to arrive on time and get high because the process of entering the arena can take a little longer than usual.

– We believe that this is in line with the calls that came from the security police and the government. That every actor in society must think about his activities. Doing absolutely nothing means taking no responsibility, from our point of view. We must protect our audience.
