NHL stars react to arrest after Adam Johnson’s death

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Adam Johnson.

NHL star Filip Gustafsson, 25, reacts to the news.

– He feels a little bit of both, he tells Sportbladet.

Adam Johnson died after being hit in the neck with a skateboard during a game. He began bleeding profusely and was taken to hospital, but his life could not be saved.

It was announced on Tuesday that a man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death.

Minnesota Wild goalie Filip Gustafsson heard the news shortly after the announcement was made.

– It’s kind of like both. I think there should be a thorough investigation. It doesn’t seem like anyone would want to intentionally do that on the ice to hurt someone else. We are still in the industry together. In the end, everything is a little show and a hobby, which is why everyone starts playing hockey. “Hopefully they can prove that wasn’t the case,” he says.

Do you feel anxious yourself?

-The bars are incredibly sharp, and no matter how safe they are, accidents happen. You should do your best to reduce your risk of such injuries, Gustafson says.

“It was terrible”

His colleague Jonas Brodin was not aware of the arrest.

– Oh. I didn’t even hear that. Actually I don’t know, I didn’t even watch the video. I don’t know what to say, he says and talks about the feelings after the fatal accident.

– It was terrible. You were almost completely devastated that day when you found out what happened. It’s scary what can happen in this sport. It was not a fun day.

– I didn’t know that. I didn’t see the situation, I chose not to look. But it’s terrible when it happens and it’s not fun for anyone, says Detroit’s Lucas Raymond.
