Orebridge. Newcomer HV71 is last on the SHL table.
The team failed to take three pointers in six matches.
“If you don’t have a three-pointer after six games, you need to do things better at that level,” says head coach Tommy Samuelson.
HV71 After all, he came to Örebro with points in four games in a row (two throws and one shot), but without being able to win full time.
Now the Jönköping team has been ruled out for the second game of the season and at times looked frustrated on the ice.
Self-confidence is a new commodity. So far we haven’t done enough good things and then we have to stand there as losers. Our situation is very clear, and we haven’t addressed a single whole point. We have to try to win hockey, agree with hockey to win matches. If you have to look at it positively instead, it’s hard for us to beat more than 60 minutes apart from the first and last game, says Tommy Samuelson.
– Obviously we are losing and that gives us a thorn in our self-confidence. Not good enough. We don’t show enough desperation. We’re not putting ourselves in good enough positions to put the margins in our favour, says 20-year-old defender Emil Andray.
“Fishing all the time”
Another thing that marked the start of the season for HV71 is that the team conceded the first goal in all six games and ended up at a disadvantage.
We have to find ways to get the lead in the matches and feel like we have something to go on. Now he is hunting all the time. We must be allowed to take the lead at some point. It’s one or two more steps compared to Hockeyallsvenskan in terms of solidity, puck possession and how fast you need to make the right decision there. Everything is going much faster and more difficult. After the first game, we felt it was time to get into the game here, says Tommy Samuelson.
“You don’t have this time”
Emil Andrae is also aware that it was a change compared to Hockeyallsvenskan, although they were prepared for it.
– It’s going to be like a game of seven in every match. We’re a lot of new players on this team, and nobody played in the SHL last year. It takes time for everyone to get into the league, but we don’t have that time right now. There are six matches and we have to find our way to play, says Emil Andray.
“He will turn everything upside down”
The next game is against the neighboring club Linkoping, who will visit on Saturday evening.
We are not focusing on anything other than winning matches now. I promise everyone here is trying 110 percent in every game. He’s good guys, not arrogance. We will do our best to change this situation, says Emil Andray.
There is currently a slight gap between Timrå and Rögle with two more points and Brynäs with another three points with one more game played.
