Niklas Olsson returns to hockey in Lulea

Lulya found her front reinforcement.

Niklas Olasson, 36, returns to the club.

– Of course, it’s great to return to Luleå and finish the season, says Olausson.

Signed just before the transfer window closed. Two seasons after leaving Norrbotten, Niklas Olsson returned to Lulea.

The contract is written for this season.

– Of course, it’s a great feeling to be able to go home to Lulea and finish the season. He also feels inspired to return home in a different role from the other nine seasons, Olausson tells Sportbladet of his return in a Luleå jersey.

Olausson has stayed twice at Luleå, the last of which lasted over four seasons. The 36-year-old left for Swiss Visp in 2021. The closest he’s come to playing with Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga where he had 23 points (5+18) in 20 games.

Fewest goals in the league

– I was without my family, so it was hard, but other than that, I had a great time here in Graz too, says the forward.

It’s a welcome boost for Luleå, who along with Malmö are the SHL’s worst team when it comes to scoring goals.

Star forwards Linus Omark and Pontus Andreesson disappeared before the season and there were trolls in the attack. Mario Kempe, who made his debut for Luleå in December, had injury problems, and in his twelve matches he scored no goals and three assists.

Over his previous nine seasons in Luleå, Olausson played in 484 games, scored 99 goals and 219 assists in the SHL and SM playoffs.
