Nora Ratti has been blacklisted in North America, potentially ending her ice hockey career

Nora Ratti could end her career

Nora Ratti, 34, is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

But it seems the Finns burned their bridges in North America.

“I know it was a selfish decision for personal gain,” she told The Hockey News.

Finnish goalie icon Noora Rati left the PWHPA board of directors in May.

The 34-year-old believes this decision is the basis for her being blacklisted from the new North American Women’s Hockey League, the PWHL.

The league was dissolved

The reason she left the board was because Räty signed for the Metropolitan Riveters at PHF. But after just a month, the job was gone when the league shut down. In June of this year, the PWHL purchased the entire league.

When the draft was implemented, Ratti did not receive a contract from any of the six teams in the newly started league, although she remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

-It became clear to me very early on that I was not welcome in the PWHL given the decision I had made. “I know it was a selfish decision for personal gain, but it was the decision my heart told me to make,” she told The Hockey News.

It can get stuck

The 34-year-old continues.

– I spoke to sources who were present at the draft and I do not feel comfortable even saying publicly what some influential people said about me. It hurts and breaks my heart because they clearly don’t know who I am as a person. I don’t even get the chance to prove my character. Maybe this means my career is over.
