Abrahamsson around the quarter-finals of Färjestad-Frölunda
This is the text of the comment. Analysis and positions of the writer.
An interval meeting between Färjestad and Frölunda.
Definitely the best we have in the Premier League.
We got another proof of that tonight.
Färjestad won in the end, but the big winner, except for everyone who sympathizes with FBK, we were all impartial spectators who watched the entertaining hockey entertainment.
Because you really don’t have to be sympathetic to either side to love a meeting between these two.
During the crazy qualifying and qualifying weeks, our manager has compiled a list of all the fixtures where we can register our interest. I’ll admit I put my name on this particular match as soon as the list showed up in my inbox.
I have felt nothing but disappointment.
There are certainly divided opinions on what should qualify as beautiful. For me, one of the best things about elite sports is being competitive.
This win means something more than just three points or a playoff series win.
And it hurts like hell to lose.
For both players and fans.
We must cherish these meetings
Because it is not full of heated rival meetings in the SHL quarterfinals.
By the way, there are not many hot meetings of rivals at all in the SHL. No Mora – Leksand, no Bjorkloven – Skelleftea, no AIK – Djurgården.
Rögle – Malmö is up there and impressive at least but it means a lot more in Ängelholm than it does in the football city of Malmö.
No, number one on that list right now is Frölunda against Färjestad. Two classic leagues, two major clubs with big, committed supporters.
When they also meet in a playoff match, a meeting with X-tra will be everything. And it’s important that we really take care of the few remaining rival meetings.
Both the players and the audience did this evening.
Because it is difficult to find better pressure than in the Löfbergs Arena.
It started with a neat TiVo with a comic book theme and an intro without music but with a background vocal above the stands.
Before the drop, “Sopa på FBK” rolled all over the arena and everyone stood up.
The nightmare begins for the substitute goalkeeper
Then it was the turn of the players to take over the show.
What a damned Holm walk this turned out to be. It was a duel in a duel for 3 x 20 minutes but without the damn whine.
Frölunda came up with Max Friberg and Jan Mursak but without the patient (?) Lars Johansson, who had a stroke an hour before the descent.
The carpet board from the first second and sometimes it was tight everywhere on the ice.
Even Michael Lindqvist was a little mean when he first peeled Joel Lundqvist’s lying stick a few centimeters and then took a swing at Jerry Inala’s neck.
After 6.24, only the second whistle of the match sounded.
After 2.54 came first and then because Färjestad had scored
Lacey Johansson’s replacement Frederic Deschus dropped a weak rebound, and last week’s star Lucas Forssell, 19, stayed ahead and grabbed the rebounds.
I think the Fagersta boy just grows every time I see him – and now he’s behind everything Färjestad has done at the finish line.
Worst possible start for Frölunda and young Dane, who then shows both routine and efficiency.
I went from alien to class comma high
Then Frölunda got a solid game and before Färjestad could organize himself, Joel Lundqvist, 41, scored the equaliser. The Gutenbergers’ power play, which was put on great display, is suddenly one hundred percent.
Youngest and oldest among the match’s first scorers.
The first 20 minutes should be the most intense of the season.
When the level in the second period left another world and dropped to a high play-off class, it was actually Frölunda who took over.
Färjestad found it surprisingly difficult to create any offensive zone and once they were there, they were careless and offered changes to Frölunda’s game.
Louis Ericsson and Roselli Olsen returned the first goal after Marcus Nilsson failed such a pass.
At the same time as Frölunda at the other end of the ice very well managed to adjust his bet on Faristad’s inexperienced backside.
With Ville Pokka gone, Färjestad’s backside was not immediately filled with play-off routine.
Freeing the brain from Borgmann
With six minutes left in the first half, Frölunda had a good control of the first quarter-final game. Then Frolland full-back Andreas Borgmann suffered a concussion when his knee forced his way out of the match.
Joachim Nygaard equalized, when Forssell slotted a beautiful first-time shot onto Linus Johansson’s stick.
And three minutes into the third period, Forssell made it 3-2 after another unfortunate comeback from Dishaux.
It’s been 15 years since those two teams last met in a playoff game, but I remember best the epic Finals series, the 2004/05 close season.
Now he was competing against players barely born at that time.
But soon there won’t be any more, as Joel Lundqvist goes out on his last hockey trip.
Where it ends remains to be seen.
If I had my way, this quarterfinal streak would never end.
