Poros. Parts of Elfsburg fans demanded Jimmy Thelin’s resignation.
Then Borås won – Bear Frick responded to the fan banner poem with a twinkle in his eye:
– Good rhyme! says the attacker.
Elfsburg has been without a win since June 27 and with 12 (!) matches in the Svenskan, Cup and European Qualifiers without wins.
After leading 1-0 with a penalty kick by Michael Badow, the visitors turned around Malmo FF To lead 2-1 in the second half in Borås Arena.
Banner – turning
Then a large two-line banner was raised on the Elfsburg runway.
“Self-confidence is at the bottom, but Thelin never made it to the top.”
But another Baidoo goal and then 3-2 by André Römer meant Elfsborg turned out to be the victory over Malmö FF.
At the post-match press conference, Elfsborg coach since 2018, Jimmy Thielen, did not want to comment on the fans’ demands for the banner.
– It’s not something I think of on an evening like this. The supporters and passion I can’t focus on, Thelin says.
Attacker Bear Frick says he hasn’t seen the banner and when told of the content, he answers quickly with a flash in his eye:
– OK. Bra edge!
What do you say about the content?
– Everyone can get their opinions. We work hard every day with the technical staff to improve. I have no comment on that.
Full support from the team leader
– We’ve been the first team for two years in a row, but unfortunately we’ve underperformed a little bit this year, a lot in the last rounds.
– I think you should look at yourself in the mirror and massage hard what you can do. All of these questions can be asked by others in the club. As a player, you shouldn’t care about such things. Frick says: We players are employed to train 100 per cent and give everything to the team in matches.
Team captain Johan Larsson:
What do you say about Jimmy Tillen’s position in Elfsburg?
He’s our coach and he always will be. I have nothing to say about him, Larson says.
What do you think of the fan banner?
– I don’t have much to say about it. We’ve been at the top for two years in a row,” says Johan Larsson.
The victory over Malmö FF put Elfsburg in ninth place in the standings, 13 points off a place in Europe and 18 points behind league leaders Haken.
