Peter Forsberg is back – playing in the Swiss Premier League

Peter Forsberg, who turns 50 this summer, is scooping up points in the Swiss top flight.

He averaged five points per game last season and is a dominant player this season as well.

– A very fun game. I missed the conversation in the dressing room before the game, and if you do something nice on the ice, you’re still happy, says Forsberg.

Peter Forsberg has been living in Switzerland and Zug for a few years.

He is a businessman and helps out in the Inuikii family business of the Forsberg / Nicole Nordin couple with a focus on footwear and fashion.

Of course the interest in hockey is still there and a committed parent is into hockey for kids. He also develops his own interest in continuing on the ice – in the first division for seniors in Switzerland.

– A friend asked me last year if I wanted to join. And that’s really fun. It’s a league for players over 35 and everything is very well organized. We play in Zug’s big arena and many teams are really good. This season I didn’t score as many points as last season. But I think it averages 2.5 points per game, says the 49-year-old, who turns 50 this summer.

“An old man comes and offers beer.”

Despite Forsberg’s well-deserved participation in Zug, the club would not win the championship. There are teams that are mostly young players only, who have just finished an active career, and are so far unbeaten.

– You have to participate when you meet certain teams. And we have difficulty against some opponents. Of course you want to win every game, but there is a lot of joy just to get back on the ice and the nice community. After the matches, an old man comes to the dressing room and serves beer in a joyful atmosphere. No tackles and shots allowed which suits my mood to avoid close contact. I keep cool on the ice, he says and laughs.

He travels frequently to North America and Sweden, and that means Zug can’t always count on Forsberg to lead the team to victory.

– Next match for me will be January 24th. It’s good to fit in at Salming in February and the games here are going really well and you’re really going out on the ice.

He shouts: “Make a fuba!”

Many things are the same with Forsberg and its ice hockey.

He played in the number 7 jersey from the start, but of course he changed to 21. Then he serves delicious dishes on the ice, makes nice passes and finishes ice cold.

– I got a free position in one of the matches and then the guys shouted that I should do a Foppa. But things didn’t turn out that way. I put it between my legs instead.

And then the feet still struggle.

– Yeah, never get rid of that. Very strange. Some games and days everything works fine. But sometimes it’s a disaster. We had a strong performance in a game and I had a puck behind our goal and I just collapsed and lay on the ice. It may sound funny, but that’s my feet. But you never know what it’s like,” concludes “Foppa.”
