Häcken took a big break in his search for European places.
Team captain Philippa Cormark, who was forced to leave the team’s camp due to neck pain, suffered a herniated disc.
– In the end, I couldn’t push myself any further, she says.
The day before the match against Linköping, Cormark woke up with a stiff neck. The midfielder still played 90 minutes in a 5-1 win.
It’s been two tough weeks. I played with so much pain, Cormark says.
Not a neck brace
Then they thought it was a neck brace, so the next day Cormark went to Spain for the national team meeting. The midfielder tried to join the exercises, but it did not work.
– I was a bit wrecked when I got there. I had no mobility and probably never felt so much pain. It was very frustrating that it wouldn’t be released, but in the end I couldn’t push myself any further and decided to go home to check it out more.
Back home in Gothenburg, an MRI was done and it showed that it wasn’t a neck lock at all, but a herniated disc.
– Perhaps that explains the pain I experienced during the match and at camp. Everyday life looks so much better now. I now feel like a human and slowly started the workouts to come back.
“really sad”
The midfielder, who did not get a place in the UEFA squad, was looking forward to the opportunity to show off during the national team meeting, but the pain put an end to it.
It was, of course, frustrating to be there in such a bad state and that you could not do yourself justice. Of course I was hoping to have some time to play and I came away feeling good from the club team. It was really frustrating.
When BK Hackenwho is chasing the top three and European places, now goes to Kalmar for a match against IFK Kalmar, would you do it without your captain Philippa Cormark.
The 27-year-old doesn’t know when she can get back to work again.
– We take it day in and day out as it is now. I’ll work hard to get back quickly, but I’ve also learned that there is a limit to how much you can pay yourself. And you have to pay for it now.
