Pia Sterner, 67, has become a politician.
The Swedish hockey major is running for the Swedish Democrats ahead of the autumn municipal elections in Karlstad.
We should be able to receive people who want to work and pay taxes in Sweden, says Stirner.
Pia Sterner (born Gringmann) is a popular name in Swedish ice hockey.
She is often described as a pioneer because there was no women’s hockey when she grew up in Gothenburg. Instead, I played with the boys and then with the guys as well.
Then she continued to work as a coach in Sweden and abroad and still loves hockey today.
– I follow the router. Above all, says Pia Sterner, women’s hockey.
It hasn’t developed as it should have, but I think it’s going in the right direction. It’s great fun. Sports is what I love the most, especially hockey.

The former hockey player, coach, karate teacher, weightlifter and teacher is starting a new course before the fall elections.
– When you grow up, you see the world with different eyes and maybe they can help you and do something good together. You can always do good things, says Pia Sterner.
She is in eighth place Sweden’s Democrats Electoral list for municipal elections in Karlstad.
– I have lived a long life and have a long experience with people. I long for a little retired, health care and sports.
What can you contribute to these questions?
– I’m a very group person so I love working together, even across party boundaries. I love when you help each other and take care of the interests of the citizens and the country. Much like playing in a team.

I have read their party program very carefully and I think it fits very well with what I think and think about today. Born in a workers’ home, Seuss was born. My parents were suckers but the world doesn’t really look like it was in Taghi Erlander’s time, she says and continues:
– I think that if you have worked and piled on a long life, you should make it more bearable than pensioners in Sweden.
“You must help, you must work”
The Swedish Democrats are associated with restrictive immigration policy, while Pia Sterner and her husband, Tre Kronor legend Ulf Sterner, have been noted for caring for unaccompanied refugees and young criminals for 20 years.
However, Pia Sterner believes that her two commitments are going well together.
– Yes, of course! We should be able to receive people who want to work and pay taxes in Sweden and toil and not live on benefits, she says and concludes:
It is consistent with what I have been raised on since I was a child. It was the first thing I learned when I was young. You must help, you must work and you must contribute to the community being fun.
