Jan Anderson called up a lot of reserves.
But not Pierre Bengtsson, 34, this time. The left-back married Carolina Neurat instead.
– We add each other’s last names. He says I am changing the shirt – if it fits.
The national team plays four matches in the Nations League and has been badly affected by injuries.
But the most diligent saviors of recent years are in distress, Pierre Bengsonhas not been called at this time.
Vänsterbacken married host, author and journalist Carolina Neurat June 4 in Skepparholmen, Saltsjöboo outside Stockholm.
Then the newlyweds went on their honeymoon in northern Italy.
“secret” wedding
The marriage was largely hidden from public knowledge until they themselves posted pictures of it on their social media.
– We wanted to make the wedding intimate and had a ban on social media during the day because we wanted to keep it private.
“What I can say is that today was a wonderful day, full of love, powerful speeches and good food,” Pierre Bengson tells Sportbladet.
What do you do with your names as a married woman?
We take each other’s last names, and Neurath Bengtsson will be on both of us. But it will probably take a while before it goes through with the IRS, so we may not have changed the name publicly yet, eg I’m on the T-shirt.
The challenge of printing on the shirt will be…what will it be?
Change to a double name on the shirt if appropriate. The left-back says it’s not safe.
On Friday, Djurgården’s men’s team, four players in the table, collected five points after one game played more than Häcken, after the holiday during the Allsvenskan break.
What do you think of your spring season?
– We were really strong at home, like in the Malmö FF match when we won 4-0. But far from home, we need to improve our game.
from your side?
– I am satisfied with my performance during the first part of the cup season and the first part of the Svenskan. Then I had a foot injury that tortured me a lot.
Open to the national team
You’re not the same player when you play with a taped foot and take painkillers every game, says Bengson.
– At first I thought I would miss at most two matches and then everything is fine, but the number of matches is still not a hundred. I never would have imagined that such an injury, a kind of sprain of the foot, could last so long. He’s insanely frustrated. I felt very limited.
I’m tall so I can’t be completely affected by the injury and can become the player I want to be. After the first workout now (during Friday) still feeling a little better with the feet so hopefully things will get better now.
In an interview with Sportbladet at the end of March after the national team failed to reach the World Cup, he expressed his reluctance to compete in Blagult under similar circumstances again, only to be called up at the last minute, unprepared.
Vänsterbacken does not close the door to continued play for the national team, but does not want to go into what he and captain Jan Andersson have discussed in detail.
He was still absent from the current Nations League match due to the wedding.
What are your ambitions for the national team in the future?
– I have been in close contact with Naprapath in the national team (Christian Anderson) regarding my foot injury. It is normal for them to ask questions about their status to the players who are on the so-called total team. So they are updated, says Pierre Bengson.
