Post points – dropped calgary

New York. Elias Peterson is on the threshold of 100.

He grabbed his 99th point of the season in Vancouver’s final game at home last night, in the form of a goal – and may have shattered rival Calgary’s playoff dreams in the process.

“Very disappointing for us,” says Flames’ Swedish defender Rasmus Andersson after what ended up being a penalty shootout.

Just like Erik Carlsson at San Jose, Elias Peterson is chasing his 100th point during the regular season finale and after the night’s battle against the Flames, he’s come very close.

In a numerical disadvantage in the first period, he flew wide on a counterattack, broke free in front of his friend Jakob Markstrom and scored his 38th goal of the season.

In doing so, he has 99 points under his belt – with three home games remaining.

Stay below the line

Probably the funniest part of the night was that he managed to help beat Calgary 3-2, after a penalty shootout.

It does not change anything for the Canucks, but it prepares it well for competitors from Alberta.

Since Winnipeg won their big game against Nashville 2-0 earlier on Easter Eve, the Flames needed the two points, but only got one. This meant they stayed below the mark, a point ahead of Winnipeg – and had one more game to play.

– Frustrated, says Skåne defender Rasmus Andersson.

– We started very slowly. Then we started in the second and third stages but we scored a few goals.

“should be settled”

Elias Lindholm, who scored the 22nd goal of the season, agrees.

We should have decided before it came to penalties. Now it’s like this, we have no choice but to reload until Monday. He says anything can happen.

Then, on Monday, Elias and his friends take on the same city of Nashville that Winnipeg beat last night. If they lose even then, while Winnipeg does what they have to do at home against San Jose, then the season is over.
