Rasmus Andersson’s elbow could be punished severely

The punishment may be harsher than the expulsion that Swedish fullback Rasmus Andersson was subjected to after an elbow attack in the losing match against Columbus.

There were only seconds left until the end of the game when Anderson delivered a real blow to Columbus’ Finnish striker Patrik Laine on the blue line. Lin, unguarded, was about to come forward to launch an attack when he pushed Anderson.

Laine was held for a while and Columbus coach Pascal Vincent was not happy. In Vincent’s eyes, it was a slap on Lin’s head that made Anderson jump.

– I saw the replay. This is not allowed in my world. We have to let the league take care of it, Vincent tells the AP.

Anderson may be subject to a harsher penalty than the five-minute expulsion he received from the match officials.

Columbus won 3-1 after Calgary eventually took out goaltender Jacob Markstrom, Markstrom who made a great save during the game with his glove on a shot from Adam Fantelli. Elias Lindholm scored Calgary’s only goal, assisted by Mikael Backlund.

In the other game on Saturday night, in the local derby between New Jersey and the New York Islanders, New Jersey finally won 5-4 in overtime. Swede Jesper Bratt had three assists for New Jersey.
