Rasmus Schuller will miss the round of 16 in the European Conferences League.
The midfielder received an unnecessary yellow card at the end of the match and was very disappointed afterwards.
– That we end up in a situation where I shouldn’t get a yellow card, he says.
Djurgården took home the fifth win in a row Europa Conference League trailing 1-0 against Shamrock Rovers. But the big hit is that Rasmus Schuller will miss the Round of 16 in March.
The midfielder received a yellow card at the end of the match and was therefore suspended.
– It’s acid. We should have taken the opportunity to kill the match and make it 2-0 when we had free chances and three-on-two situations that we almost got rid of. If we hit the goal 2-0, we can replace Rasmus and we won’t have to take any risks. Plus, there’s a stupid drop of the ball before Rasmus takes the warning. Coach Thomas Lagerlöf says he is forced to take it because we are competing to pass the ball away.
“Very big disappointment”
Schuller himself agrees.
– There are probably three situations before where we can get out of the situation and take the ball away. We don’t do that and then we end up on the wrong side and I take my old man down because I judge they are heading into the penalty area. But I am very disappointed that there will be a yellow card because I think the whole team can play this situation smarter. Says:
– Now I’m suspended and someone else can come forward. We’ll bravely fix it, but it’s a personal shame on me.
Schuller also badly bruised his face after straightening his foot on the pallet.
– This opponent was kicked in the face when I was going to head the ball away and try to kick the heel. It was also unnecessary, but things like this happen. He says I will look beautiful for a few weeks.
