Real Madrid is the best team in Europe for the 14th time.
The heroes of the final match against Liverpool are Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius Junior.
The Belgian was responsible for several giant saves, and Brass scored the only goal.
Huge chaos erupted before the Champions League final when thousands of Liverpool fans found it difficult to enter the ring. This delayed the kick-off for 36 minutes.
Once the match started, it was a quiet first quarter before Mohamed Salah got his first chance but Thibaut Courtois managed to go down and save the Egyptian finish.
After only five minutes he became closer. Sadio Mané showed a lot of effort to shoot from the right, but the visiting goalkeeper managed to clear the ball away.
“It’s a great save for Courtois,” says C-More expert Kim Kallstrom.
controversial decision
Despite the chances, it was Real Madrid who got the first ball in goal just before the break. Karim Benzema put the ball in the net after a chaotic situation where he appeared to have got the ball from Fabinho but after a lengthy VAR review, the goal was disallowed.
– This is a very difficult situation. Is it intentional by Fabinho or because Liverpool players are upset with Valverde? Even though you’ve looked at it twenty times, says Henok Goitom, it’s hard to tell.
Saved Real
But the goal was to come. Just under an hour into play, Federico Valverde’s powerful pass passed through the entire Liverpool defense until independent Vinicius Jr put the ball into an open goal.
Hasse Backe says he was a passive defensive play by Liverpool.
After the goal, Liverpool pressed hard for the equaliser. Less than ten minutes before the end, Salah got an excellent position, but Courtois saved again.
The ball was never required for the English and Real could instead call themselves the best team in Europe for the 14th time.
Courtois is playing a great little game. Kallstrom says Real Madrid are making a strong tournament.
