Recording player Christopher Forsberg extends his contract with Malmö

It felt like a given contract extension.

Now Christoffer Forsberg is also ready on paper.

Currently, the 28-year-old striker reaches 436 consecutive matches for Malmö.

During his nine seasons in Malmö, Christopher Forsberg became a regular player in the line-up.

After being challenged for the first two games in the fall of 2015 by then-head coach Bjorn Hellqvist, he played 436 consecutive SHL and SM playoff games for Malmö.

Thus, he did not miss a match in these seasons due to injury or illness.

The improbable streak is a record for the southernmost SHL club in the country.

“extra satisfy”

Christopher Forsberg has now extended the contract with Malmö for another two seasons, until the 2025/2026 season.

– It’s a joy to be able to expand with a true loyalist like “Foppa”. He is a player who always gives everything he has for the team and puts in the work that is required every day. Besides, he also makes his surroundings better. These are qualities that we value most, says sporting director Bjorn Leliander.

“very happy”

Studied in Östersund/Brunflo, he came to Malmö via Färjestad and Timrå.

In the past three seasons he has been assistant captain and has become a crowd favorite with his wit and sacrificial game.

– I’ve had great years since I moved to Malmö almost eight years ago and this is without a doubt my team. Christopher Forsberg says I am incredibly inspired and delighted to be staying at the club and wearing the club colors for two more seasons.
