Return of Northug – Related to Vasaloppet

Peter Northough is tired of the exerciser life.

Now the Norwegian is revealing his comeback – in the skating classics.

This means the 36-year-old is eligible for a Vasaloppet in March.

– I want to be on top, he told VG.

A little over four years ago Thank you Peter Northog To himself and put the bars on the shelf. The Norwegian, one of the world’s greatest skaters, has since referred to himself as an exerciser – until now.

After impressing during the summer season on roller skates, the 36-year-old decided to make a comeback. In the winter, he’ll run skate classics.

– This year I hope to assure myself. This winter I want to be on top. There are some races that don’t suit me because of the track profile, but also some that suit me well, Northug tells VG.

Current for Vasaloppet

Last Thursday, Northough impressed with the Blink Festival Long Run as he won the sprint award ahead of several national team skiers and some of the strongest long-distance skiers. There are now races in Trondheim as well as the Alliansloppet and Klarälvsloppet in Sweden.

There are three long races and that’s what I train for. I train for longer walks and try to train as specifically as possible, Northough says.

The fact that the Norwegian is competing in the Ski Classics means he is eligible for a Vasaloppet in March. Andreas Nygaard, this year’s winner, believes in success.

If he does what he can until Vasaloppet, I really think it’s a race he can win, he says and points to the superstar’s positive impact on long-distance races:
