Richard Gynge is ready to return to AIK Hockey

AIK has signed a superstar for the upcoming season.

Top scorer Richard Genji is ready to return to the club after 10 years.

The 35-year-old has signed a contract for the next two seasons.

The return recently came from matches at the Växjö Lakers, in which he won gold in Sweden as recently as the 2020/2021 season, but he also has several seasons in the KHL on his merit list. He was the infamous scorer during his previous stay at the club with and took the team to the Elite Series then and now is seeking a new advancement.

– I had the goal picture to share and I’m trying to advance AIK Again, this has been with me all these years since I was on that special trip last time. It was extra motivation on my mind and now it’s great to get a chance to be involved, he told the club’s website.

Gynge had a successful season last year when he netted 48 points in 52 regular season games and seven points in four playoffs, which was the best of his career in the SHL. The 35-year-old will be one of the biggest signings in the league and will be able to lead the first series at the Stockholm club.

“I’m starting to get a little bit older, and I feel like I don’t want to go back to AIK and be a fugitive, but I still want to give it a shot when I have something to contribute,” he says.
