Robert Leno extends his contract with Örebro in the SHL for two seasons

Robert Leno will stay at Orebro for two more seasons.

The skillful passing player of the Finland national team has extended his contract.

“Bobby is at a good age and we think he can take a few more steps,” says General Manager Stefan Bengtzen.

Robert Leno has three SHL seasons behind him at Örebro.

Performances were uneven and the injury at the end of the first season took time to return from full strength.

Now the 29-year-old right-forward will remain at the club.

– My first choice has always been to continue to Örebro, and it’s great that everything is ready now. My family and I have a lot of fun here and I love playing at the Behrn Arena. Robert Leno says, I believe we as a team are moving forward all the time and I want to be involved and contribute to our success together.

During the seasons in Örebro, he played in the center and forward.

He was distinguished by his ingenuity in the game and a well-educated impression.

Bobby is a loyal team player and very useful in different forms of play. We believe very much in “Bobby” and look forward to continuing to work with him over the next two seasons, says Stefan Bengtzén.

Euro in the club

In a turbulent few weeks, it became clear that Örebro was losing coach Niklas Ericsson (confirmed by the club) and sporting director Niklas Johansson (ready to face Vasteras) as well as players Rodrigo Apoulos (himself confirmed to Rogl), Linus Oberg (unconfirmed to Frölunda) and Marcus Hardegård (unconfirmed to Luleå).

There is no news regarding Finns Kristian Nakiva and Jan Lajonen, whose terms have expired.

Örebro may also find it difficult to retain super-talent Leo Carlsson, who will be named among the first in the NHL draft this summer.

Those who have been rumored to be in the running are mainly trainer Johan Hedberg (Mora), Glenn Gustafsson (Växjö), Dennis Rasmussen (Davos) and Julius Honka (Lulea).

Those who previously extended to the club during the season were Jonas Enroth and Emil Larsson.

Robert Leno and Rasmus Rissanen of Örebro have been named to the Finland national team for next week’s Beijer Hockey Games in Malmö.
