Roger Runeberg’s relief after the performance – he scared away the distant ghost

Desperate for the first leg

Karlstad. Roger Runeberg was in despair before the match.

And then he breathed a sigh of relief.

– Huff… how much we needed this! says Frölunda coach Roger Runeberg.

Frölunda played six away matches before meeting the opposition against Färjestad in Karlstad.

It all ended in defeat and before the match there were no words or songs from coach Roger Runeberg regarding the away match.

-They seem to have the worst coach in the world who has never watched a hockey game before. It doesn’t seem wise and I understand that fans watching the game must be distraught. But they cannot be as desperate as us in the team, whether players or leaders. “We are very critical of ourselves,” Runeberg said in an interview on the club’s social media.

But the dismal streak has been broken. David Edstrom settled the entertaining game in a packed Löfbergs Arena with a solitary penalty shootout goal.

“I’m not as grumpy as I usually am.”

At the subsequent news conference, Ronberg was noticeably relaxed as he spoke.

– Huff… how much we needed this! As a team and as a group. I think you can see that at the final whistle. How much it means for our team to win an away match. It’s not an ordinary away game, but rather one that the whole team put into the calendar very early, says Runeberg.

– I’m very happy when I come home from here because we needed to win. This is not a whine where I come up with ten things we need to improve on, as I usually do.

“I can be passionate about hockey.”

Linus Johansson from Färjestad gives the match the highest rating in terms of entertainment value.

– It’ll probably be a lot of fun to watch, even though there will only be three goals in the end. It’s a great location to show off to people watching their first hockey game. “I think you can get excited about hockey if you see Färjestad against Frölunda,” he says.
